You've just discovered your vehicle has a serious, growing leak in its brake system.
How will you deal with it?
Take the poll and flip to see what it says about your politics.
A) Sell the car immediately.
You're a born banker or Wall Street entrepreneur.
You deserved a better car anyway.
You might want to smudge the VIN number and misplace some of the records.
B) Buy lots more accident insurance.
You're like 133 "conservative" Republican reps.
If you pay any taxes, you might loan your deadly vehicle to the needy as a write off.
Be sure your policy has triple indemnity on freaky accidents, and prepare to sue.
C) Travel with a trailer stocked with 700 gallons of brake fluid.
Be ready to buy more when you need it.
You're a born Democratic or Republican "leader": Nancy Pelosi, Henry Paulson, John McCain, George Bush. And as one charismatic optimist put it, it's not a perfect solution, and it's expensive, but it's available today.
Or rather, it was yesterday.
D) Get your brakes fixed.
You're with the 95 "left wing" Democrats who stood up to Pelosi and the others yesterday, preferring a solution to the mortgage-based credit crisis that includes preventing foreclosures - helping homeowners afford their premiums and keep their homes. And regulations that make Wall Street's credit swap Ponzi schemes illegal again.
You know - D is folks like Barbara Lee, John Lewis, Jay Inslee, Lynn Woolsey, Dennis Kucinich, Tom Udall, Mark Udall, Maurice Hinchey, John Conyers, Sheila Jackson-Lee, 85 other reps, and Hillary Clinton (who proposed a foreclosure moratorium last December) -- a group dominated by women, brown, and short people with more respect for logic than "leadership". Y'know -- typically in the minority, but uncannily good at Predicting Stuff. For instance, they know that when mortgages get paid, stability trickles up.
Just imagine if D had logic, common sense, morality, and a Democratic "leader" on their side too.
Call up the D team and thank them for keeping America out of an unsafe vehicle yesterday.
Then call the "leaders" and tell them to get responsible, earn their keep, and help plain folks for a change. It might even help them get re-elected. Or elected.
Let's get them talking about a moratorium on home foreclosures again. If we start following Hillary's original 90 day plan this October, by the time it's done we'll be preparing to inaugurate a real president.
